About Us

The Georgia Professional Tennis Association is a 160-plus member association of certified teaching professionals-USPTA and PTR-serving the area's tennis community since 1977.  Members also include out-of- state pros as well as sponsoring national and local tennis organizations and representatives of the tennis industry.

The GPTA's purpose is to foster continuing education, community service, networking and social interaction of tennis teachers and coaches with a goal of raising the level of play in recreational and competitive tennis.

GPTA activities include membership meetings and workshops featuring new developments in continuing education, professional development of teaching pros and on-court drills and instruction. The GPTA also hosts four drill sessions each year. Recent speakers at GPTA events include Ken DeHart, Pat Whitworth and QuickStart experts Craig Jones and Vu Nguyen.

The GPTA also publishes a monthly newsletter, The Pro Approach, devoted to improving teaching and coaching for both adults and juniors.

GPTA members are active in all aspects of Georgia tennis, ranging from teaching in junior academies to coaching college teams. They coach teams that compete in city, district, sectional and national league play.

As active players, GPTA certified professionals compete in sanctioned tournaments and contribute to charitable causes. They volunteer for inner-city school programs and officiate in local and national championships.
